You just launched a podcast. Why would you struggle to learn a video editor that was designed to placate as many as possible of 100 million different users? The only possible result of that kind of design is mediocrity. In this age, slogging through mass-market, builder-grade software is utterly unnecessary. Take ownership of your work by first taking ownership of your tools.

Cutroom runs on the editor's own computer and never copies the media. It scans a folder of audio or video, measures loudness second by second, proposes sections and finds the pauses. The editor works in three passes: listen and drop chapters, highlights and cut points with single keys; trim and tag the clips; export.

The exports are a chapter list for YouTube or a podcast host, a clips spreadsheet, a cut list, a highlight reel of the kept clips in order, and the tightened episode: the whole recording minus every stretch tagged as a cut. Transcripts come from Whisper when it is installed.
